Minis Teams (U6 - U11) Hampstead Rugby Club
The Minis Teams at Hampstead Rugby Club - girls and boys - has continued to grow in popularity year on year since the junior section was established in 2010. Rugby is a great way to introduce children to a sport which has a strong team spirit and teaches discipline and respect. It often appeals to children who may not like or feel they ‘fit’ with football, basketball, hockey etc - in other words, it is an inclusive sport where every child can find their place. At this level, the most important things are enjoying the game and having fun - and usually forming great friendships!
Why the kids (and parents) love Hampstead Rugby Club’s Minis teams
We are an inclusive, community-based club and welcome everyone - girls, boys, parents and supporters.
Every child gets the same opportunities to play and we make it fun!
Most children have never played rugby when they join. As long as they enjoy it, that is all that matters!
The team spirit on and off the pitch amongst the children, parents and supporters is unbeatable and it is where lasting friendships are made.
The coaching teams are dedicated to the children’s welfare and teach rugby, ball skills and how to be part of a great team.
Minis team approach
Each age group is a close unit unit and train in their own teams which include coaches, a referee and a Team Manager. All our lead coaches have been through RFU approved courses, DBS check and have a core of first aid trained personnel. We promote the RFU ‘Play it Safe’ scheme as our main priority is the player’s wellbeing and for each child to enjoy their rugby and we have a set of policies we abide by.
The season's objectives will be set by the team and coaches in September but the we aim to promote rugby’s core values - on the pitch and on the sidelines:
Team work
Respect
Enjoyment
Discipline
Sportsmanship
HAVING FUN!
